This website has been developed to serve as a clearinghouse and ideas bank for issues related to this hospital safe patient handling law in Washington State. In March 2006, Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire signed new legislation requiring hospitals to implement a safe patient handling program. In response to ESHB 1672 [RCWs 70.41, 72.23, 51.16, 82.04], the Safe Patient Handling Steering Committee has organized to assist hospitals in implementing a safe, cost effective patient-handling program. This website was developed by the committee for this purpose.
